Abstract

Broadly speaking, this volume of collected articles shapes the profile of the American passion for a chapter of Italian art somehow perceived as “conservative”, white and, I might add, despite the search of a “global trecento”, still very European. Simply put, this is the editors’ point in the Introduction, where they also appreciate a recent shift in the scholarship toward the second half of the century discussed.
